Below is what we hope to accomplish over the next few months:
- Inform, Communicate, Educate — Our plans are to arrange and provide training for all SOP staff, keep updated and enhance SOP Forum
for questions and answers, and Help Line for specific questions;
implement on-line grants/contracts rules system, and provide divisional
accesses for all financial and HR systems
- Streamline Responsiveness/Ease of Use — We continue to implement and expand new and productive means of
efficient communications such as Instant Messaging, improve
responsiveness through the SOP Helpline tracking and monitoring system, develop better system accesses, and publish performance goals
- Enhance Data Integrity and Currency — We have restructured the SOP accounts and trusts to get a better handle
on our financial information by creating a separate account for each
major source of income and enable the faculty and account owners to
manage their own funds through better visibility and transparency
- Make Access Quick, Efficient — We continue to make financial and HR data and reports available
on-line, along with the expenditure rules for contracts and grants. The
information we will offer will be current as of that morning will
provide detailed information by various purposes. We plan on meeting
with each PI and explaining the reports on a routine basis
- Create, Document, and Streamline Processes — We will document major processes and define organizational roles and
responsibilities, start streamlining processes, and develop processes
for annual budget preparations
